Savannah Friends of Music and Paula Wallace honorary ceremony ...

POOLER, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah Children's Choir will honor Paula Wallace and the Savannah Friends of Music for their hard work improving the lives of children in the community March 10 from 6-8 p.m. at the JCB headquarters in Pooler.

Paula Wallace will be honored for her hard work helping the Esther F. Garrison School of Visual and Performing Arts get ready for its opening, and for her continued support for the school and children.

Savannah Friends of Music raise money to provide music lessons, camp and tuitions for students.

The organization has helped bring strength to the arts in Savannah, and for this reason the Savannah Children's Choir is honoring them with a One Small Voice award in 2012.?

According to a press release, Lynne H. Davis, president of Savannah Friends of Music?said she felt the need to continue the heritage left behind by the Savannah Symphony Women's Guild, which "had risen significant funding for the Savannah Symphony Orchestra, thereby contributing to the city's cultural and artistic heritage and enjoyment for its people." ?

Savannah Children's Choir along with Savannah Friends of Music has provided funding for Armstrong Atlantic Youth Orchestra, Savannah Music Festival, Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, Savannah Concert Association.

"On behalf of the Board of Directors and membership, I am delighted that SFOM is being publicly recognized for its efforts for the enhancement of music programs for children and adults," said Davis, according to a press release.

"This is the first time our efforts have been recognized in such a memorable manner. We are deeply honored."
